The Clock Clinic, The Peaks, Whangaparaoa was established in January 2001
by Theron Greasley and Krys Moore.
Theron served his apprenticeship in horology at a well established company in Auckland. After thirteen years with the same company, he decided it was time to venture out on his own but still does contract work for them.
Theron has spent the last twenty years specialising in clock repairing and restoration work. No job has been found to be too big or too small for The Clock Clinic, having worked on many of Auckland’s tower clocks and at the same time working on some of the smallest intricate timepieces.
Theron is the fourth generation horologist in his family. His great-great-grandfather, Saunders Bolton of Manchester, England was a well known watchmaker in the early ninetieth hundreds. Saunders son Horace Boltan, came to New Zealand in 1925 and eventually established, H. Bolton and Co Limited in Auckland in the 1940s.
At the time they were the Rolex Watches service agent and distributor for New Zealand. Horace's son Tony Bolton ran the company until the 1980s.
As a young boy Theron used to spend hours watching his Poppa repair watches and now Theron’s son loves nothing more than to watch his dad repair clocks. So perhaps he will be the fifth generation horologist.
